Joseph Earle Bolt student notebook, 1913-1915.

Notebook used by Joseph E. Bolt, while a student enrolled in English III at University of South Carolina, 1914-1915, with notes on Shakespearean dramas, and related playbills from productions staged in Columbia, S.C. Interleaved in the volume are two handbills from theatrical productions: "The Leopard's Spots," a traveling production that included among its cast the play's author, Thomas Dixon, presented at Columbia Theatre, 14 Nov. 1913; and playbill from a performance of "As You Like It," by William Shakespeare, presented by the Ben Greet Woodland Players at Gibbes Green, University of South Carolina, 14 Apr. 1915, attached to section of notebook re Bolt's class notes from the play. Although the instructor is not identified by name, the class was taught by George Armstrong Wauchope, professor of English at the University of South Carolina, 1898-1943.
